New

Slim first began recording his songs for posterity many years ago, though – sadly – his first efforts are either lost or so bad that no sane person would ever wish to hear them.

Around the turn of the century, his recording techniques had improved enough to allow Slim to release his songs both on CD and via the Web.

Songs from Slims newest collection -Stoney Lonesome - are available for purchase on Amazon.com and soon on ITunes and other sites.

New

Slim became somewhat sidetracked during the time of creation of his third CD. Never having gotten around to coming up with a snappy title for the CD, Slim just let it be.  It is simply known by its working title – New. The songs were mainly recorded in 2003-04, in Oregon and in Slims new home in Palm Springs

You Keep Me Hanging On A cover of the Supremes classic. Slim doesn't usually do covers, but this one kept intruding into his brain. It is known that he recently visited the official Vanilla Fudge website (it really exists) and hasn't been the same since....

Driving in the Pouring Rain This song has a Ricky Nelson feel to it, d'accord?

Gonna Have A Ball  I simply wanted to do a poppy-type song, and came up with this...

RV Parking A song from my Oregon days....such an amenity is absolutely necessary in a place where men are men, women are women, guns is guns, and dogs are dogs.....

Float Lake  A Midsummer's keyboard fantasy.

I Am A Poor Desert Dweller

Mr. Bush (I Think You Need A Drink) If anyone ever needed one, it’s this guy….

Phoenix Blues

Bad Woman, Good Man

An Eastern Elitist's View of Texas

Cindy

I'm Going Down the Highway of Love

Prom Night

Westboy in the 21st Century

Slims second CD featured songs that were recorded mainly during the years 2000 – 2003 both in Washington, DC and Ashland, OR – though it also contained a few earlier recordings. During this period his style was evolving as he honed his technical skill.

Big Bottom Girls

Old Toad

Simon Bolivar

Summertime  A cover of the Gershwin classic….

Gone

Calistoga Fantasy

Albert Einstein  We share the same birthday.  That famous photograph of Albert sticking his tongue out was taken on the day I was born.  Albert and me - we're brothers.

Let’s Have a Party

Potato Day

The Official Song of the Southern Oregon Pear-Growers Association

Mate Can Make You Happy

Nairobi Sunset

Whiskeytown Slim used to consume quite a bit of Irish "water of life" but now he leaves it to others more bold....Ryan Adams had a band of the same name - quite good.

Wherever Hugh Go

Nick and Nora

I’m Toast

The songs on Slims first CD were recorded in his home in Washington, DC during the years 1996-2000.

Knobs on the Dashboard  Keep Your Eyes on the road, bub….

Love's So Hard, Eh?  A simple musing about the nature of relationships, etc. and thoughts of fleeing south towards Costa Rica with all deliberate speed. But I'd probably want a woman to come with me......

Barbara Boxer, Barbara Boxer (Part 2)  Our wonderful senator and my friend…..

Come-A-Ty-Yi-Yippie  I’ve always had a cowboy thing….

Don’t Have You

Honky-Tonk Street

She’s Still With Me, Still

O’Donovan’s Lament  Inspired by a telemarketing call for a cemetery plot….

Juking Jacksonville

The Finger Lakes Wine Expo  This actually happened way back in 1981 in Hector, New York, organized by one of my best lifelong friends, Ben Guthrie.  Basically, it was a flop.  I didn't actually attend, but Ben did give me a whole case of souvenir glasses, which I'm still using....

Brazil, Brasil

Common Like a Denominator

Delightful

Happy As a Clam  John Lennon Meets Telstar….

Memories Dripping Down  A very strange song indeed...."alone at a restaurant, a glass of beer, a plate of sauerkraut...."

When You’re Dreaming Them Dreams

And a Few Odds and Ends Before We End....

Pussy Shack  A very naughty song, co-written with my great friend, Craig Freilich. I even found the original recording we made with a mad Chilean in attendance...this song was also a creative breakthrough for Slim, signaling a transition towards mature and extremely complex songwriting....

The Miami Herald Song  It's the Gospel Truth, this song..., available for .99 on Amazon.

She's Still with Me, Still  This is a very early song of Slims, which he quite liked, but the original recording is very sloppy, mainly due to his habit at the time of constantly sipping whiskey while recording. So, this version is new...it lacks the spontaneity of the original, but at least it's fairly clean - done here in a western swing version.
